Hi everyone,

We hope that you’ve had a great week – isn’t it lovely to see more sunshine! Despite the Single-Handed Open being postponed due to the weather, we had a fantastic Sunday at the Club, with 21 degrees heat and a great breeze.  It was particularly good to see such a strong turnout of Rebels and Yeomans. If you missed the action, you can catch up here: https://horning-sailing.club/news/club-racing-sunday-9th-may-2021/

For this weekend, we have decided to postpone the Single-handed Open again due to a number of sailors not being able to make it – we will communicate the new date once it is arranged, and apologies for any disappointment caused.  However, we are still planning a busy weekend with a Work Party on Saturday and Club Racing on Sunday.

Work Party – Saturday 15th May

Please come and give a hand on Saturday with our work party, where we will be focusing on a few priorities:

·       Putting up the Club gazebo

·       Painting the sheds

·       Tidying the Island

·       Rigging the training boats

We’ll be starting at 10:00 am – and even if you can just help for an hour or so, we would be incredibly grateful – and if you’ve not come down before, there will be assistance on hand, a friendly atmosphere, and plenty of ways to help out. Please email vice-commodore@horning-sailing.club if you can come down and help.

Training Update

Thank you to all those who have returned Consent Forms for Training – we are so looking forward to starting the Race Sessions next week (Thursday 20th May).  Joining information will be making its way to you shortly.  If you have not yet returned the forms please could you do this as soon as possible.

More information will follow soon about Adult Training Sessions.

Paddleboarding Update

Paddleboarding coming soon …  Less than 2 weeks to go until our Paddleboarding evenings start (on Monday 24th May).  We are expecting these sessions to be popular and pre-booking will be required, but the plan is that these will be informal, with the opportunity for friendly advice on hand.  Watch out for more information soon!

Three Rivers Race - 5th and 6th June 2021 - Galley volunteers needed before/during and after the Race

The current Government road map out of lockdown is currently on course.  This is excellent news for the Race as it means we can offer either take-away or sit-down breakfasts and refreshments to our Race competitors.

However, the 3RR Committee needs the support of volunteers to run this facility on a rota basis across the race weekend.

Can you volunteer some time to come and help the galley team and be part of the team to make the Race the whole success that it is?

If so, please add your name to Google Sheet here, the rota list outside the Clubhouse, or communicate with Karen Fields  -  karen@thepiglets.plus.com  or Marianne Saunders - Marianne.saunders@virginmedia.com when you can volunteer, on which day and the time slot you would prefer.

If you have any questions, please ask anyone on the 3RR Committee and we will help.

Kevin Saunders

Chairman

3RR Committee

Do you recognise these keys?

These keys were found on the Club car park last week – if they are yours, please could you arrange to collect them from Anne (01692 630507).

Trailers in the car park

A reminder that no trailers should be left in the Club car park – thank you.

200 Club Update

There are still numbers available for the 200 Club draw – have you thought about joining?  Help raise funds towards our new Clubhouse and possibly win one of the 15 cash prizes in the quarterly draw.  Top prize is £75.  For more information contact Joan Butcher (contact details in White Book).
