Sailing at the Heart of the Norfolk Broads

Radio Controlled Laser Fleet

RC Laser sailing on the River Bure.

Another facet to HSC is a growing fleet of Radio Controlled (RC) model Lasers. These 1/4 scale boats are available from several outlets in the UK, have a hull length of just over a metre and are nearly 2 metres tall when ashore on their purpose built folding stand. They are a strict 'one design' and boast a UK National class association and international fleets with championships held all over the globe. 4 differnt sail rigs allow them to sail in winds varying from a light breeze to some 35knots! and, when sailed within the bounds of the RYA yacht racing rules on miniature Olympic style courses, offer some very close competition for helms young or old, light or heavy.

Winter sailing at present takes place outside the clubhouse on a Wednesday afternoon but as the season becomes busier then there is the opportunity to move onto 'Blackhorse broad' using the pontoon or the Training Centre floating classroom 'Bure Magic'.
